Often times clients want to know whether they should use Pro or Premier QuickBooks. My clientele is made up of about 75% that use Pro. Normally the SimpleStart is way to entry level for most of their needs so I don’t have anyone who uses it and few will use the special reports and features that Premier offers.
So how do you know?

There’s a few key industries where I definitely always recommend the Premier:
1. Nonprofits
2. Contractors, if you deal alot with change orders or are large enough to utilize the additional reports. Only about 5% of my contractors use Premier, the rest use Pro.
3. Manufacturing
Note: Retailers who use QuickBooks Point of Sale are fine using QuickBooks Pro.
So the key is to do your research and understand if you will really use the extra bells and whistles found in the Premier version; if not, save your money and go with Pro. You can always upgrade to Premier when business needs demand.
